Creating Offers

what is an offer?

This is what is being given to the Influencer to entice them to mention the brand on social media. It is a form of compensation- physical, digital, or monetary.

Offers should be consistent with the tier of influencers being targeted.

For example, an influencer with over 1 million followers is unlikely to mention a brand on social without some monetary payment.

Create offers on the Reach App, where we will guide you through with advice, examples, and explanations so that the offer will have requirements and an offer value designed to seal deals with influencers.

How do you decide which tier an influencer belongs to?

Influencers are divided into tiers using Reach’s proprietary algorithm which relies on several metrics, including following and post engagement. The higher the tier, the greater an influencer’s reach and power to create buzz for brands.

What is an up & Comer?

An Up & Comer has between 1,000 and 10,000 followers and may only view and like offers that are specifically designed for them.

How do you decide which offers to show influencers?

If an Influencer has less than 10,000 Instagram followers, they will only see offers specifically designed for Up & Comers. If they have at least 10,000 followers, they will see all of the offers in the system. Of course, not every offer is designed to target each tier, so we encourage Influencers to swipe right on offers for which they fall into the target tier.

How do you determine the cost per deal?

Please see our Pricing page for more details.

WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENT MEDIA TYPES THAT BRANDS CAN INCLUDE IN THEIR DEAL?

A tag of the brand is included for each post.

POST

A post refers to an Instagram post Influencers will create in which the brand’s product/service is clearly visible.

STORY PHOTO

Influencers will include a still-photo in their Instagram Story in which the brand's product/service is clearly visible. @Brand will be clearly legible, occupying at least 10% of the screen. Photo will be displayed for the full 24 allowable hours.

STORY VIDEO

Influencers will include a video in their Instagram Story in which the product/service is clearly visible. They may or may not include audio which talks about the brand, but throughout the entire video, @Brand will be on the screen and clearly legible, occupying at least 10% of the screen. Video will be at least 5 seconds and displayed for the full 24 hours allowable.

What are the different types of offers a brand can make?

PHYSICAL GIFT

Brands might offer to give an influencer a product, service, or experience in exchange for a post.

DIGITAL GIFT

Brands might offer an Influencer a discount towards a product, service, or experience.

After an Influencer signs the contract and before they upload the post, they will see instructions for redeeming the digital gift.

The instructions might be to email someone specific at the brand to get a unique coupon code, or the coupon code itself.

MONETARY PAYMENT

Reach will release this payment to the influencer once they have uploaded the post to the Reach app and Reach has verified the post to ensure that is compliant with all deal requirements.

What are some of the deal requirements that a brand can specify?

As brands exert creative control over influencers by adding these requirements to a deal, influencers need to be compensated accordingly. With each requirement added, the influencer is paid more. The fees increase as the tiers increase.

  • Specific Geotag

  • Custom Caption

  • Swipe up on Instagram Story

  • Link in Bio

  • Story Video Specifics

    • A brand may want influencers to describe or interact with a product/service in a particular way, or answer a question about the product/service, which they can specify in an offer.

  • Exclusivity Requirements

    • Brands may select exclusivity as a deal requirement when creating an offer and may specify up to five brands which they consider to be direct competitors. Influencers will be contractually prohibited from promoting these specified brands on Instagram for 30 days after posting.

    • Reach is not responsible for detecting incidents of breach. Breaches may be reported to support@scalereach.com.

HOW does reach determine the fee for each deal requirement?

The fee for each deal requirement is a set percentage of the Reach Deal Fee per tier.

What is a reach deal fee?

This is a fee that has a set price per tier that Reach collects from brands for each deal they make with an influencer.

HOW can brands be certain the influencer is going to get paid?

Reach collects all payments due to influencers when brands publish the offer. As such, neither Reach, nor its influencers, rely on the brands for payment once the influencer submits their post and it is verified by Reach. Reach will release the payment as long as the influencer's post is compliant with the terms of the deal and therefore verified by Reach.

If a brand matches with an influencer once, does it mean they will auto-match with influencer on future offers liked by the influencer?

No, matches are only valid for individual offers. If you match with an influencer on one offer, the influencer is not automatically matched for other offers from you, now or in the future.

can an influencer match with multiple brands at a time?

Yes and Reach encourages it! Reach encourages influencers to be mindful of any exclusivity requirements they might have agreed to in a deal that they are already engaged in. Exclusivity lasts for 30 days- so as long as they aren’t violating the terms of their contract by promoting one of the listed, competing brands within the exclusivity period, they can make deals with as many brands as they wish.

Fine Points

how does exclusivity work?

Brands may select exclusivity as a deal requirement when creating an offer and may specify up to five brands which they consider to be direct competitors. Influencers will be contractually prohibited from promoting these specified brands on Instagram for 30 days after posting.

Reach is not responsible for detecting incidents of breach. Breaches may be reported to support@scalereach.com.

Can brands contact influencers outside of the platform?

Using the Reach App is only way influencers can work with the brands that they meet or discover through Reach. Neither party may contact the other directly or try to work around us outside of Reach.  To meet or discover each other means that, through the Reach App, you view their information, like or pass on an offer, match, make a deal, receive product or compensation from, or perform work on behalf of the brand.

If an influencer is in a photo or video, does that mean they own the copyright for it?

Whether an influencer takes a photo or has a photographer take the photo for them, they must be sure that they own the copyright to the image they are using for each Deal.  If they are working with a photographer, they must make sure that they have the correct permissions to use the image as per the terms of each Deal.

Do influencers have to explicitly provide a release for images they post in connection with a brand on reach?

No, by participating in a Deal, influencers are agreeing to allow a brand to use both their image and likeness in connection with a Deal.  The Brand is limited to only using their image and biography in that capacity.

WHen are influencers paid any monetary payments they are owed from a deal?

Reach will pay influencers through Stripe, within 45 days of Reach verification that influencers have posted according to the requirements of the deal.

How long does the post from a deal have to stay live on influencer's social channels?

The Deliverables must be posted on your social channels for at least 30 days, where applicable.

What if an influencer takes the gift and never posts?

Prior to redeeming the gift, influencers will have committed to posting by signing the contract. If they breach the contract by neglecting to post in the specified time frame, they will be suspended from the Reach network.

Your deal fee related to that influencer will be refunded.

If you are uncomfortable risking the rare scenario of an influencer redeeming a gift and breaching their contract by not posting, we recommend designing your offer a little differently.

For example, rather than offering 10% off an online order if you post and mention the brand, you can offer $20 cash* for any post that is relevant to and mentions the brand.

In the latter example, you do not spend any money on an influencer until after Reach has received and verified the social asset.

*Please note that “Cash” gifts are distributed by Reach once the post has been verified.

HOW often is an influencer's tier updated?

Tier status will be updated at least once per week.

is reach free for influencers to use?

Reach is free of charge for Influencers to use.

What if reach does not verify the post that the influencer submitted?

Reach will explain to the brand and influencer exactly why and how the post was not compliant with the terms of the deal. The influencer will have the opportunity to fix the problems and post again. If influencers follow the checklist of deal requirements that we provide them with in the “Ready to Post” section, their post will be verified without issue.

example: a brand paid for 100 redemptions on a deal and reach collected the deal fees when the offer was published. the brand has made 70 deals with influencers on this offer. Now the brand wants to un-publish the offer even though 30 redemptions remain- can they get their money back?

Absolutely. Please contact Reach and we will arrange for the refund of the Reach fees and monetary payments for the 30 remaining redemptions that they no longer wish to offer to Influencers.

what if the brand doesn't match within a week?

When an influencer likes an offer, Reach advises that the brand usually confirms a match within a week. Influencers will be notified as soon as brands match and will be prompted for countersignature. Influencers will not be notified if the brand denies the match.

Can the brand use the influencer's images?

A brand is permitted to display the influencer’s images, with proper attribution on the brand’s website and social media channels only.

How do taxes work?

All influencers are paid as independent contractors and are required to comply with all applicable tax laws for reporting income.  Reach cannot provide any information or advice about taxes or what constitutes taxable income. Reach will also require all Influencers to submit a W-9 before any payments will be issued.
